Exploring the remote Tsum Valley offers an unforgettable trekking experience. Often referred to as the “Hidden Valley,” this mystical destination lies in the northern part of the Manaslu region.
For many years, both the Manaslu and Tsum valleys remained closed to outsiders, only opening to trekkers in 2008. This late access has preserved the valley’s authenticity, making it one of Nepal’s least-crowded and most rewarding trails. Its isolation has helped maintain a pure cultural identity and centuries-old traditions that stand in contrast to the modernization seen in much of the Himalayas.
Tsum Valley is encircled by breathtaking Himalayan giants—Baudha Himal and Himal Chuli in the west, Ganesh Himal in the south, and Sringi Himal rising in the north. Trekkers are captivated not only by the dramatic landscapes but also by the warm hospitality of the locals, whose lives are deeply rooted in Tibetan Buddhist culture. The valley is equally remarkable for its pristine wildlife, safeguarded by a long-standing Buddhist prohibition on hunting.
